APPEARANCEJoseph is of an average height and build. He stands at 5ft11 and a half and weighs anything from 182lbs to 193lbs. He's a broad person and he is well built, he isn't as toned as he would like to be around the trunk of his body but he wouldn't consider himself to be a particularly flabby person, he's just not overly-muscular and defined like a male model or a star athlete. Joey is masculine, he's got strong limbs especially in the legs from being a keen cyclist and jogger. He has naturally dark brown hair but has dyed it black for years. It's generally messy, often in that controlled chaos kind of way but he does enjoy experimenting with his hair. It can look good, it can look bad, it can look like he just rolled out of bed (because he probably did). His dark hair works well with his green eyes, which many (including himself) will tell you is his best feature. Bright green with spurts of orange in the iris, framed by a ring of teal on the outside which can occasionally give the illusion that he has bluey-green eyes. He wears glasses if he doesn't wear contacts.
Something he dislikes about himself is his obnoxiously large nose. And while he seemingly dislikes his ears (he can become annoyed if you taunt them), he doesn't hate them as much as it seems. He's quite affectionate of his big and pixyish ears. His skin is healthy and naturally of a pale tanned shade. Joey is a heavily tattooed person but not to an off-putting extent. He has an almost full set of sleeves and various other tattoos, from his chest to his back to behind his ear or to the back of his leg. They are vibrant, much like his usual personality when he's not stricken with grief or exhaustion. Joey has a beautiful smile and it's a shame that he wastes time looking so serious. He has a beautiful pair of thick lips. But he tends to look moody and pouty without even trying, or meaning to. When he smiles, his face comes alive. His teeth aren't perfect but he's got such a cheeky and genuine grin that it doesn't matter. His bottom lip is pierced twice in a 'snake bite' fashion and he also has a septum piercing and both his lobes are gauged.
In terms of attire, he doesn't really have one look. But he tends to dress for comfort and to be practical as well as fashionable. He likes interesting designs on tee shirts but he also enjoys plain clothing. It all depends on the occasion, the time of year or how bothered he can be to make an effort. As a fan of rock metal and as a person of an 'alternative look' he has to admit that he's usually seen in dark tones of black, grey or navy blue. And he likes jeans, or dark trousers. Nothing too baggy, nothing too tight. He's into fitted but breathable clothing because he's not the slimmest man around and he's fine with that. But he doesn't want to accentuate his 'problem areas' by wearing ill fitting clothing. He can express himself through his clothing (or general appearance) just as creatively as his tattoos, when he wants to. He doesn't need a special occasion to wake up one day and decide to wear a bow tie, he has a love for somewhat dorky and smart daily wear. Or maybe he just has a thing for sweaters and bow ties.---------------------

WEALTH upper middle class family.
HISTORYJoseph is technically the eldest of five. He was born eleven minutes before his sister Zina-Marie arrived to parents Malèna and David Rufford, on the thirteenth of December. Malèna and David had planned to start having children but later on in their marriage. They never expected to have a baby so soon, never mind two. But they were a hardworking and determined pair and while Lena balanced being a new parent with being a medical school student, she couldn't have asked for a better husband. Always there to pick up the 'night shift' even if he had been working during the day and had to work the next day, always so hands on and good with helping around the house but he never gave off that house-husband vibe, he was still very much the man of the house. This house was situated in Huntington Beach, where Joseph lived until he was around thirteen. His parents needed to find a bigger place to house their five children that was close enough for them to still get to work. The Ruffords moved to Anaheim, where Joey started high school.
He had been interested in art ever since he was a small child and this interest became a passion in high school, fuelled heavily by a very supportive art teacher. During his late teens he grew more and more interested in tattoo artistry, both personally and career wise. After receiving his first taste of ink at seventeen, he knew there was no going back. He didn't just want more, he wanted to be a tattoo artist. It was pure coincidence that he chose to attend an art school in the same city that his childhood friend Eleanor Whishaw was going to attend a culinary arts school. They had been best buds growing up and even when he moved away, Joey made a point of going to Huntington Beach every other weekend to see his friends, including Ellie. Everyone knew they'd start dating at some point in their life, it was inevitable. He was studying in art while working as an apprentice tattoo artist and she was studying in culinary arts, as she wanted to be a pastry chef. And they got together during the summer between their first and second years as college students, having lived with each other for the past year.
Two years down the line, when Ellie told him that she was pregnant, he was shocked. But Joseph didn't panic or run away scared. In fact, he was pretty excited. A little bit worried about whether they could support a child but it didn't overshadow how ecstatic he was. The couple would be forever thankful to both their parents for the support they gave; helping the pair by a small but comfortable family home, supporting them financially as both of them were in the late stages of their education but the very early stages of their careers. Annabelle was born happy and healthy in the late October. Joseph proposed to Ellie, feeling that they might as well do this right and be a proper family. Jamison Damien Rufford was born near the end of July, three months before his older sister had her second birthday. But things were okay, they had the room, the time, the money and the love for second baby. They realised that they had had it a lot easier with Anna, Jamie was such a noisy and exuberant tot! But you'd never seen a prouder papa bear.
He'd rarely be found out with his peers during weekends, wasting their money to get drunk. He was at home, supporting his wife and watching his children grow. It was beautiful to him, his two little blessings, they were best kind of mistakes a person could ever make! Eleanor's third pregnancy was something scheduled, the only child the couple had actually planned to create. Work for both of them was stable, Annabelle was in school while Jamison was in full time day care. Everything just seemed perfect, in a none unrealistic way. He was happy, life was good. He was a busy man but he was a happy man. He was a happy man until he got a phone call alerting him to the accident his wife had been involved in. Joey had expressed his worries of her driving while so heavily pregnant less than a week before her accident occurred, in the beginning of March. He would forever hate that his fears turned into a reality and he did nothing to prevent it when he felt he could and should have. Three weeks and a half. It would have been just three and a half weeks until he was the proud father of Joshua Aaron Rufford.
Instead, it was three days later and he was burying his wife and unborn son. Devastated didn't begin to describe how he felt. Joseph wasn't allowed to fall apart, it was both a good and bad thing that he had to stay strong for the sake of his children. Sometimes he felt that he hadn't had the appropriate time and space to grieve while other times he was so thankful for their presence, their love and light around him whenever he felt so alone in their family home and so empty without her. Many months have gone by and his pain is slowly but surely subsiding. There's not a day that goes by in which Joey doesn't wish he could see her again. But instead of destroying himself with grief, he is focusing on the happiness of his children. He's got no idea how this will affect them later on in their lives, but he knows that he doesn't want them to be overridden with sadness. He wants to show them that life goes on. All he wants for them is to have a good life, for them to be happy and healthy and to hope that her absence doesn't cause a big hole in their hearts.
He's got no intention of filling that hole in his heart with someone else, because there is no one in this world right now that could possibly ever fill those shoes. And he doesn't want anyone to, because he is still very much in love with his wife, and he considers himself to be a married man. But he no longer finds himself dreading the next day that he wakes up on his side of the bed and turns over to be greeted by an empty space. Or the next big event in his kid's lives that he can't share the experience with Eleanor. Joey is tired and he feels like he's aged ten years in the last couple of months but he's staying optimistic. He refuses to believe it won't get better or it won't feel easier. He knows it will, he just needs time. He's got two reasons to wake up and get out of bed everyday and their names are Annabelle and Jamison! Life is coming back to Joseph Rufford. He's finally starting to feel like he can breathe again.---------------------

AGE twenty.
YOUR EXPERIENCE four years.
ROLE PLAY EXAMPLEEverything, was just about running smoothly. They were going good at least, minor, usual mishaps had occurred of flowers arriving later than expected or momentarily loosing one of the groomsmen but on the whole, everything went really well for the day. The outcome wanted out of it all had been achieved and at the end of the day that was all that really mattered. The bride turned up (which was always a fantastic start to the day), no drama with anyone standing up objecting to the union and the groom didn't faint at the alter. There was a newly wed couple in the house tonight! Or hotel, rather. It was a good job that this happy couple came from wealthy stock, they needed to rent a hotel to fit all of their guests in and decided it was easy to host the entire event in the same place rather than having to cart all the foreign family to a church and back to the hotel for the after party. Instead, it was a much smaller ceremony for the wedding itself. No young children except the couple's own and it was pretty much family and a select few very close friends at the ceremony itself.
Now he knew these lot to be a rowdy bunch and he was waiting for someone to give him a reason to have to call the cops but so far, everyone had been well behaved. He had to admit that he was impressed. Shane was apprehensive about working this job, he was pissed at first that he had been given a wedding to handle. Weddings were not his thing, he worked corporate events. Weddings just didn't sit well with him and he was annoyed that he got stuck doing it. It started out as a favour for the niece of a friend. He didn't enjoy the idea of working with his ex-wife more than he could help. But he had handled everything pretty fucking well! And the smooth sailing of this wedding bash was proving it. Everyone was happy, everyone had enjoyed the meal presented to them by the catering staff, picked by the couple (with a lot of help from their maid of honor and best man team) and now everyone was enjoying the drink. It was getting later now, the meal was calm and it happened in between the wedding itself and the scheduled celebration that had begun in the early evening after the cutting of the cake and the speeches, after all the foods and first dances.
All the tradition and normal wedding occurrences were over and done with and ever since, all of the stragglers had been arriving. All of the many friends that the couple had acquired over the years, past and present. Shane got the feeling that they were a very likeable bunch so he wasn't surprised as some might have been to see just how well liked they were by their peers. The turnout said it all, three hundred and more! A lot of folk who looked like the types that Shane would lock his daughter up and away from, that was for sure. Everyone seemed to be having fun and that was all that mattered now. Shane and his team just had to make sure that everyone stayed happy. He'd sent a few home, some who had been on their feet all day and it was time for them to pack it in. His ex-wife was still around somewhere but Shane hadn't seen her since the wedding ceremony itself, which was what she handled. Shane also had to make sure that people left appropriately and safely, he had people ready to call cabs. For now, he lingered, giving his feet a break. For someone who had never done a wedding before (besides his own!), he was proud of himself.
It was a group effort. The wedding party had been great, the couple and their choice of chief bridesmaid and best man. The latter had worked their butts off and Shane was happy to see them enjoying this wedding as much as the happy couple were. He had had more fun on this then he thought he would have. He liked that Gaby could take control when her cousin wasn't interested and all the groom was interested in was his bride. Over the past weeks, couple of months he had grown to quite like the girl who was enjoying a glass of something in her long black dress. Shane loved this rocker thing these kids had going on. And everyone looked stunning, the bride and her gaggle of girls and the mothers. They all looked delicious as they sat by the tables or danced with their males or each other to the deejay's music.---------------------
